Welcome to Our Church

We are called together by Christ
as a community of hopeful...believers,
loving what he loved,
living what he taught,
striving to be faithful servants of God
in our time and place.

(from A Song of Faith, United Church of Canada)

We acknowledge that we worship on the traditional territory of the Anishinabe, the Mississauga of the New Credit, and Attiwonderonk Nations, on land that was subject to Treaty 3 an area also known as the Between the Lakes Purchase.
We give thanks for these nations and for the people today who share and care for the land and its resources.

What We Believe

Zion United Church is a congregation of The United Church of Canada. Within the United Church, and within each congregation, we find a broad spectrum of theological perspectives, which is one of the strengths of the denomination that lives its faith by embracing diversity.

  • Zion United Church, New Hamburg Pianist –Part-time 4 hours per week

Zion United Church recognizes that Music ministry is an integral part of our worship experience as a meaningful expression of our praise, gratitude and response to the Creator God as revealed through Jesus Christ, as well as a musical expression of our faith life journeys in this community and throughout the world.

The Pianist will be responsible for preparing high quality music for all aspects of worship services by accompanying hymns, and on occasion soloists or small groups, and by presenting a variety of appropriate music for Prelude, Postlude and offertory each week to coordinate with themes and times of the church year.  The Pianist is expected to be present at Christmas Eve service and Good Friday Service.

To support this role the pianist will:

    ·       Consult with Ministry Team, and Praising Team to select music appropriate for worship themes or seasons of the church year i.e. Lent/Easter.

    ·       Use the Praising Team as a platform to bring issues requests, suggestions to Leadership Council.

    ·       Select appropriate repertoire and prepare the music before each service i.e. Hymn sing, Prelude, Offertory and Postlude.

    ·       On occasion when being absent, notify Praising Team and HR as soon as possible, so that a competent supply can be arranged to provide music for worship.

Please contact Kathryn Murrell at 519-662-9926 or moc.sregor@llerrumk for more information or to apply.

FOOD PANTRY: Thanks to our Caring Team, Zion has a new Food Pantry at the front of our church. Anyone in the community who is in need of its offering is welcome to take what you need and be blessed. Please contact the church if you would like to volunteer to monitor and stock the pantry for a week!
